XXV CIM – Colloquium on Music Informatics

Sounding the Posthuman

L’Aquila / October 13th to 16th, 2026
Conservatory of L’Aquila
Department of Electronic Music and New Technologies (meAQ)

in cooperation with University of L’Aquila
Department of Engineering, Information Sciences, and Mathematics (DISIM)

General info

Today’s creative sound practices are populated by a variety of different nonhuman agents (including technical and environmental ones). As it becomes increasingly necessary to properly situate the human body in the hybrid, distributed assemblages involved in composing, performing, and listening, it also becomes increasingly problematic to say exactly where computing actually takes place along and across such practices and related artistic research: what is the place and role of computation across the broader technological layers (including mechanical and analog ones) needed for any computer music to exist? Multiple agencies operate through all sorts of portable devices, shared interfaces, and ubiquitous AI operators: what technological, cultural, and affective mediations do they enact in the lived experience and practice of music?

The CIM program includes scientific and artistic presentations, musical activities, and educational activities. Scientific presentations are selected through a call for papers, and musical works through a call for works. All submissions and peer reviewing will be managed through EasyChair https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=xxvcim2026.

In order to encourage the greatest possible involvement of the scientific and artistic community, participation in the Colloquium will be free of charge for authors and listeners.

Paper, poster, demo, and work presentations will take place in L’Aquila. The detailed schedule of activities, including dates, times, and venues, will be published on the dedicated website at https://musel.consaq.it/cim2026, together with information on transportation and accommodation options.

For any inquiries, please use the dedicated contact form.

Submission of large materials and attachments files

Authors who intend to complete the submission of a work using materials external to the EasyChair platform are required to explicitly indicate, in the Entry Form submitted via the platform, all the URLs necessary to access the materials. This includes, for example:

  • links to shared folders containing high-quality audio or video files;
  • links to demonstration videos or audiovisual documentation;
  • links to personal or institutional repositories;
  • links to scores, graphic materials, or technical documentation;
  • links to patches, software, source code, or performance environments necessary for evaluating the work.

All repositories, cloud storage, or hosting services used must be managed directly by the candidates, who will be responsible for the accuracy of the links provided, any access authorizations, and ensuring the materials remain online at least until the conclusion of the CIM 2026 activities.

Multiple submissions

Authors may submit multiple scientific and/or artistic contributions. Each work must be submitted individually, as a complete and independent proposal, without dependencies on documents, materials, or content included in other submissions. Each contribution will be evaluated independently of the others through a separate review process.
